I&C Engineering Supervisor- An immediate opportunity for a licensed I&C Engineer to lead the instrumentation and controls department. Projects are related to the design-build of oil transit line replacements, pipeline facilities and drilling sites.
The successful candidate will manager the Control Systems department in the Anchorage office, currently consisting of 50+ engineers and designers. The Supervisor also provides appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by drafting staff within or outside I&C. The Supervisor ensures that the deliverables provided to the project by the discipline engineering and design are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans. This position reports directly to the Manager of Engineering in Anchorage.
Instrument selection and sizing, calculations, preparation of equipment data sheets and specifications for smaller projects (P&ID’s, data sheets and loop diagrams, control wiring diagrams).
Collaborates with project management to achieve project objectives.
Promotes safe work practices and ensures assigned employees conduct their work in accordance with company safety policies.
Approves man-hour estimates for projects and tracks the performance on projects.
Interfaces with other departments, project managers/engineers, clients and vendors during all phases of projects to ensure that good working exist.
Participates in proposal presentations and business development activities.
Supports field assignments as required.
Reviews and stamps the drawings of subordinate personnel where expected by the local jurisdiction of professional engineers.
Work is usually performed in an office setting, sometimes at a client’s facility, or at a job site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: LEADERSHIP
Sets technical policies and assign staff.
Resolves conflicts affecting personnel.
Establishes performance expectations for all assigned employees.
Conducts annual performance appraisals and provides input regarding salary actions.
Assesses personnel needs, interviews candidates, selects employees and oversees the training of new employees.
Approves timesheets and expense reports.
Prepares and administers the department budget for each fiscal year.
Conducts department communication and safety meetings as and when required
Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of I&C engineering experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer (any US state)
Minimum one year supervisory, management or leadership experience
Prior experience executing small projects from conception to start-up within budget and on schedule
Must have thorough knowledge of electrical codes for the Petroleum and Chemical Industries (PCIC, IEEE, NEC)
Must have a background heavily focused on the Design-Built of Oil & Gas, Petroleum, Refinery or Chemical facilities
Broad based knowledge of field control systems such as how to size and spec control valves.
Alaska P.E. registration status is preferred but not required
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineer is preferred but will also consider Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplines
Previous experience on North Slope projects is a plus but not required
Master’s Degree in Engineering is preferred but not required |
