Quality Engineer - This position will work with existing personnel in E&CS to ensure the efficient operation of Vendor Quality Surveillance for Environmental capital projects. This individual will also be responsible to communicate throughout the organization regarding project quality status, vendor status, work plans and quality issues and their resolution. This position requires developing and maintaining a high level of relationships both within Southern Company and with external suppliers and manufacturers.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and standards to ensure correct implementation by the vendor of the design and quality requirements established by such drawings, specifications and standards.
Manufacturing Processes – a working knowledge of shop operations involving procurement, equipment/material handling and shipping.
Working knowledge of power plant equipment
Basic computer skills required (Word, Excel, etc).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is REQUIRED
Strong planning, organizational and communications skills required
Take lead responsibility for Quality on a major Environmental Project
Develop and maintain Quality Surveillance Plan for a major Environmental Project
Manage and perform shop quality surveillance in vendor’s shop
Interface with Project Engineers and Project Managers to provide support to projects
Find and assign qualified contract personnel to perform surveillance as required
Identifying materials and equipment requiring shop surveillance
Writing concise and complete reports describing surveillance activities |
